It’s a family affair! And that family is the Orozcos.
The Orozcos, who have been in the restaurant business for many years, owned restaurants in neighboring towns such as Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. Their latest venture is Ojai’s Home Kitchen f/k/a Eggs & Potatoes and they are looking forward to bringing a fresh take on this venerable diner/coffee shop with a new farm-to-table menu that will include fresh seasonal produce from local farms.
The new menu doesn’t mean it’s farewell to old favorites. Home Kitchen will still be serving the complimentary Swedish pancake (some call it a crepe) with powdered sugar and rich boysenberry homemade jam to start your meal. Special breakfast selections will remain, as will the crunchy, lots of melty cheesy grilled cheese that was praised a while back in the Ojai Quarterly. Also on the menu will be hash, made fresh daily and other farmhouse delights. The kitchen will also be turning all food scraps into compost which the Orozcos will donate to local farmers.
To enhance that farmhouse feel, Home Kitchen will be getting a face lift. To give the restaurant that farmhouse-y look, walls will be clad in local reclaimed wood, booths will be reupholstered and baskets of fresh herbs and produce will be displayed.
As before, the restaurant will be open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, but is now open for dinner Thursday through Saturday, and is available for private events and for catering large parties or an intimate dinner in your home, cooked by a private chef.
