Famous for its pink moments, Ojai has enticed creative artists and filmmakers to its valley for decades. Painters and photographers have visually captured these sunsets, while writers wax poetic describing these magical moments. Frank Capra filmed his Shangri La film “Lost Horizon here. Time seems to stop when the pink color bathes the mountains and sky. From these moments, Magic Hour was born.
Created by Zhena Muzyka, the founder of Zhena’s Gypsy Tea and author of “Life by the Cup,” which chronicles her experience growing a multimillion-dollar fair trade tea company (and is in development for a TV series by Mark Wahlberg’s production company), Zhena wanted to make a magic hour available in each of our homes. She envisions a world where everyone and everything is treated as sacred… a world where lovers, friends, colleagues, and even opponents take tea time to create connection and compassionate understanding.
Zhena, is also an award-winning social entrepreneur, a public speaker, teacher, executive coach and a former publisher of Enliven Books an imprint from Atria/Simon and Shuster. She has been on the Inc. 5000 list for several years, has been named a Country Living Woman Entrepreneur Honoree, a Top Woman in Business by Pacific Business Times, 20 most inspiring women in Coco Eco Magazine, as well as other awards and honors, and she has been featured in such publications as the NY Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and Marie Claire.
Her teas are cultivated and harvested from soil to cup with her Magic Hour Rule of Love, and she sources her teas only from organic and Biodynamic teas, herbs and spice gardens that practice regenerative farming methods which support the earth by helping reduce CO2, and support workers (who are mostly women and mothers) with fair wages, maternity leave, healthcare and education for their children. Her teas are lovingly blended by hand by Zhena in our magical valley surrounded by pink moments.
Her philosophy is “transforming the world through tea.” So, as you wander through Taste of Ojai, visit Zhena and transform your taste buds by sipping some – feel the magic.
