In 2007, Jorge Alem and his cousin, Joby M. Yobe, created Ojai Beverage Company, a shop that houses an enormous collection of local and imported wines, craft beers and spirits for sale.

Going through their wine aisles is like a wondrous trip through library stacks, only it’s “what tasty delight to buy?” instead of “what tasty adventure to read?” Decisions. Decisions. But someone in the store is always there to help you find the perfect wine for any occasion.

Recently, I discovered that OBC also has hundreds of beers in its beverage larder– beers from American breweries, including breweries in Ventura and Santa Barbara, and beers from all over the globe, ready to be brought home and enjoyed. A selection of those far-flung beers will be tapped for Taste of Ojai.

But, even if you’re not in the market for a bottle of wine, a six pack, or a fifth of single malt, come for the wine and beer tastings, the daily selections of which are written on the blackboard above the bar… a fun way to while away happy hour with friends.

Or drop in for lunch or dinner at the OBC Tap House.

The menu has everything from “starters” (olive tapenade with cheese & fruit, for one) to “something more” (eg: pulled pork sliders), to salads that include Greek and Cobb, to a selection of burgers and sandwiches.

And when you’re at Taste of Ojai and need a sip of something after all that food tasting, visit the brew crew at the OBC booth.
