I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream! Especially if it’s homemade.
Doug Rydbeck grew up in L.A., but became a world-traveling nomad for six years in the 70’s before eventually settling in Ojai. Looking for an investment, he saw an ad for an ice cream store that intrigued him. After learning all he could about the “business” of ice cream, he bought Ojai Ice Cream in 1992. And, with his wife Donna Zaza at his side, he’s been churning out delicious homemade ice cream ever since.
Some of his signature (and most popular) flavors are: Ojai orange made from oranges grown right here in the valley, with a hint of a vanilla called bourbon, and a chocolate raspberry blend with a dash of rum and truffle chocolate chips (divine). Other popular flavors include almond jelly coconut, rum raisin, oreo (yup, the cookie in a cone), pecan praline and Rocky Road. And then there are seasonal ice creams such as his lavender ice cream.
Did I mention an assortment of candy and homemade fudge in the store? Fudge!!! Need I say more?
Doug will be serving this homemade fudge at Taste of Ojai. So, if you’re looking for the perfect marriage of tastes to your “taste” of merlot or cab, walk down the aisle to the Ojai Ice Cream booth. Or if you’re just a plain chocoholic – this delectable fudge will be there waiting to quench your craving.
