Revitalization is afoot at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s signature restaurant, Olivella, which opened in August, 2015. First came the complete remodel of the restaurant’s interior. Designed by EDG Design out of San Francisco, Olivella radiates a welcoming comfort, yet its clean lines and color palette breathe pure sophistication.
With handmade carved wood pieces paying homage to the Inn’s Spanish design heritage, the restaurant’s rooms are dotted with déco-inspired and modern accents. The cocktail lounge with its area rugs, chairs, and over-stuffed sofas in rich grays, rose and beige hues, along with dark wood tables placed in conversational groupings are perfect for intimate talks over a hand-crafted cocktail or a game of cribbage.
To go with the cocktails, the redesigned Wallace Neff Heritage bar offers a light-fare menu of small bites that includes herb whipped goat cheese and a scallop crudo.
The main dining room continues the lounge’s subtle color palette and is divided into large and intimate dining spaces.
It also offers dual patios for al fresco “pink moment” dining where you can enjoy Chef de Cuisine Andrea Rodella’s revitalized menu… from first course items such as seared scallops with castroville artichokes, farm peaches and “galletta di riso” mint to entrees that include an Alaskan halibut with roasted red pepper and garlic aioli, zucchini, mussel and chickpea “guazzetto.” Formerly of Piccolo’s in Venice, California Chef Rodella has created his own California cuisine signature dishes with Italian influences he learned while growing up in Northern Italy.
Truman Jones, the Inn’s Executive Chef, was a farmer and is dedicated to the use of seasonal Valley to Table ingredients. He will oversee the Chef de Cuisines’ choices from Olivella, and Oak restaurants for the Taste of Ojai event. Stop by and taste Chef Rodella’s offering. Your mouth will be watering before you take one bite!
