Some people are born to cook… it’s in their DNA and that is certainly true of Robin Goldstein. Born in Washington, D.C., Robin (known as “Private Chef Robin” to celebrity and private clients alike) was exposed early on to fine dining at her grandparents’ and later her father’s restaurants. This sparked a lifelong passion and love of cooking.

After dining her way through D.C.’s prominent restaurants at a young age, Robin attended the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America in New York, but she still had worlds to conquer which led her to cook for private families worldwide, including Hawaii, Spain, Norway, Switzerland and, of course, California where she has also worked and consulted with some of L.A.’s top caterers and established restaurants.

Now nestled in our enchanted Ojai Valley, Robin lives in an oak-shaded neighborhood surrounded by nature and the scenic beauty of our famous local mountains. After years of working around the globe, Robin uses the classic techniques she learned at the Culinary Institute to continue to develop her Mediterranean cooking style (with an emphasis on Middle Eastern flavors) to provide an intimate, home-cooked experience that is anything but traditional home cooked food. Whether at a private dinner party or a catered affair, her food is healthful, flavorful and delicious to eat.

Teaching locally at the Lavender Inn, Robin develops and fully infuses lavender into recipes that have been featured during the Ojai Lavender Festival for several years. This success has led to her recent development of A Taste of Ojai™ Culinary Sea Salts” whereby she infuses lavender, wild fennel, and pink peppercorns into three distinct and flavorful seasoning blends.

Her first book in a projected series “A Taste of Ojai™ A Collection of Small Plates,” shares some of her secrets for creating healthful and delicious fresh fare, always with a dash of Ojai thrown in for good measure.
